Con Rules

Below are our rules on 4 different areas: The rules of ITU, our general Code of Conduct, our Cosplay and prop/weapon rules, along with our Photo and Video rules. We appreciate you taking the time to look through our rules, as they help us keep the convention suitable for all attendees.

CommIT Con reserve the right to change these rules.

As CommIT Con is a student organization at ITU, we have to follow the rules of ITU. When attending CommIT Con, you agree to follow the rules of ITU; Policies & Alcohol and Smoking Rules.

We are doing our best to make a convention where everyone can have fun and enjoy themselves. To do that, we have some general rules everyone should be following during the con.

We would appreciate it if everything went well, but if things get out of hand, we do have guards ready to step in. The following rules are made to make sure everyone can feel safe and comfortable for the duration of the con, so please do your best to follow them.

1. Alcohol and smoking is not allowed at the CommIT Con premises during the convention.
2. Violent/aggressive behavior or theft will result in immediate expulsion from the convention and a police report.
3. You are not allowed to block hallways, stairs or entrances/exits.
4. Eating and drinking is not allowed in the auditoriums or the artist alley.
   2. Artists are, however, allowed to eat at their own booths, as they are responsible for their own products.
5. If you eat on CommIT Con premises, please clean up after yourselves and throw your trash in the trash cans, rather than on the floor.
6. Using roller skates, bikes, etc. is not allowed on CommIT Con premises.
7. Cosplay is not consent, so even if it looks like your fantasy has sprung to life, remember that cosplayers are also people, and taking pictures or touching them or their cosplays without consent is not allowed.
8. In general, remember to be mindful of others, keep the volume down and use common sense.
9. Any decision by CommIT Con is final.

We follow Danish weapon law, found in danish here.
Breaking of the rules is handled on the spot. Less severe breaking of the rules will result in a warning, and more severe breaking of the rules will result in removal from the convention. In especially severe cases, we may call the police, as you’re not only a danger to yourself, but also others at the convention.

1. You are responsible for upholding the rules regarding props and weapons. There is no official prop check at CommIT Con, but if clear violations are spotted, we will take action.
2. Regular common sense should be applied when handling props and weapons, whether they are made of plastic or not.
3. Unruly use or handling of props that endangers others may result in a warning or expulsion from the convention.
4. The maximum height for your prop/weapon is roughly a quarter of your height taller than you, so you have full control of it. Additionally, the overhang of your prop may not be much larger than your arms length for the same reason.
5. Headwear may not extend further than 30 cm behind your head.
6. Your weapon/props, armor or other items, no matter the material, may not have sharp edges or tips. It must be stump and may not be capable of cutting and leaving marks.
7. For the sake of safety, your props and cosplays may not be any heavier than what you can comfortably handle and control.
8. All firearm props must have one of the following: a red plastic dot in the barrel, a red painted tip of the barrel or red tape on the tip of the barrel.

List of forbidden weapons:

• Metal weapons, including but not limited to:
  • Swords, knives, clubs, throwing stars, etc.
• Projectile weapons, including but not limited to:
  • Airsoft-guns, hardball-guns,functioning replicas of shooting weapons, BB-guns, crossbows, water guns, etc.
• Chemical based weapons or explosives, including but not limited to:
  • Fireworks, smoke bombs, stink bombs, etc.
• Electrically driven tools, including but not limited to:
  • Chainsaws, powertools, etc.
• Objects of a nature such that they can be used as a weapon, including but not limited to:
  • Solid staffs (fx. staffs of solid wood), baseball bats, etc.
• Self-flying objects, including but not limited to:
  • Helium balloons, drones, etc.

Everyone participating in CommIT Con, whether it be as an official photographer or regular participant, will have to follow the general rules regarding photos and videos as stated below.
In addition to our rules, everyone needs to follow the Danish Data Protections Law (Databeskyttelsesloven). Breaking the rules may result in expulsion from the convention.

1. Photos, sound recordings and videos taken within CommIT Con’s convention area may not be able to be used to identify individuals without their consent.
2. Photos, sound recordings or videos taken within CommIT Con’s convention area may not be used for commercial purposes, unless an agreement has been with CommIT Con beforehand about such uses of the material.

3. All signs in the convention area addressing photographers, and instructions from staff must be followed at all times during CommIT Con.
4. Unless otherwise specified at a show or event, additional lighting equipment, including, but not restricted to, flash, may not be used while taking pictures or videos.
5. As a participant at CommIT Con, you accept that official CommIT Con photographers are allowed to take pictures of you without your explicit consent, as long as you are within CommIT Con’s general convention areas, in larger groups or at an event.
   2. The material may not, however, be able to identify single individuals without the explicit consent of the individual. However, when participating in official events, such as the costume competition, you accept that CommIT Con photographers are allowed to take pictures of you as long as you don’t explicitly tell them not to.
6. Organizers and staff have the final say in any discussion regarding photo and video rules.
7. If a photographer is found breaking these rules, a warning will be given. In serious cases, access to the convention will be removed immediately, and the photographer will be denied access to the convention until another message has been given.
   2. In the case of extremely serious or repeated breaking of the rules, access to the con will be removed immediately without further notice. The photographer will be shown out of the convention, and a decision regarding a permanent ban for the photographer will be evaluated by CommIT Con.
8. All pictures taken by official CommIT Con photographers will become publicly available in the gallery on our website, and may be used by CommIT Con for promotional purposes. If you wish for a picture of you to be taken down and deleted, contact us at dpo@commitcon.dk.
9. If an official CommIT Con photographer uses pictures taken at our convention, they must credit us by saying that the pictures are from our convention (e.g. by tagging us on instagram). If we request that the picture be taken down (e.g. if an individual in the picture withdraws their consent), photographers will have to oblige.
